About our Founder...

Retia Walker was born on October 23, 1953 in Havana, Fl. Throughout her life she has had
a myriad of professions where the root of each focused on the care of an individual.
Ultimately Retia stepped out on faith and opened her own childcare facility by the name of
Toys N Tots Educational Preschool where she was director and owner for thirteen years managing the care,
education and support of children ranging from infants to twelve years old.

She always believed that education was the key to success. So, while she was teaching children
she attended Tallahassee Community College where she received her AA degree in General Studies
and an AS degree in Early Childhood Development at the age of sixty.
In 2016 after feeling a lump in her breast she scheduled an appointment with her doctor for a mammogram. The mammogram revealed a mass in her upper breast area and the doctors chose to perform a biopsy
where it was determined that the mass was cancerous. It was through her testimony of prayer, faith and determination knowing God was still with her that gave her the strength to fight her battle with cancer.
Led by God during her battle the vision and mission of the Victorious Warriors Cancer Support Group
came to fruition in December of 2017 and the organization was officially established in 2018 with the love
and support of her husband and two daughters.

After two years fighting this horrible disease called cancer Retia was called home to be with the Lord
on October 1, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. Though she is no longer here with us
we continue her work and carry on her legacy as we meet, support and inspire others touched by cancer.
